The Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) pays for medically necessary services provided to patients seen in the office. Patients must have valid OHIP coverage before their medical appointment. Patients without a valid OHIP coverage will need to pay a fee for services.

You may require some services that are not insured by OHIP – these are considered Uninsured Services. This includes but not limited to:

  • Sick notes, Insurance Notes
  • Cosmetic and Skin procedures
  • Travel Medicine
  • Charges for missed appointments.
  • Completion of forms for daycare, insurance, legal or employment
  • No-show for a scheduled appointment

Uninsured services can be paid for by etransfer, VISA or Mastercard.

We try our best to follow our schedule promptly with minimum wait times to patients. If you are late for your appointment even by just 10 or 15 minutes, it will in convene other patients with booked appointments after you.

In the event you cannot make your scheduled appointment, please call us to reschedule or cancel your appointment so that we can make that time slot available to another patients. Continuous missed appointments can result in missed appointment fees.

Our Physicians always strive to remain on time for their appointments. However, unforeseen health emergencies do occasionally arise that may cause us to run late. We truly appreciate your patience in waiting to see your doctor.
Plan to arrive at the clinic a minimum 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. Please stay on topic while meeting with the doctor. Please do not add multiple issues that weren’t mentioned when you booked your appointment, or your appointment will run over schedule and patients booked after you will be inconvenienced.

Your doctors will work collaboratively with you to ensure they take an active role in managing your medications and health. For chronic medications your doctors will generally provide you with sufficient supply to last you between appointments.

If you see that you are running low on medication and do not have any repeats, please book appointments at least 2-3 weeks prior to running out of medication.

Registering with a family physician provides you with continuity of care by a medically trained expert who understands your needs, preferences and medical history and provide consistent and coordinated medical care. There are several benefits of having a family physician. This includes,

  • Annual health checkups for early detection of health concerns
  • management of complex or chronic conditions
  • access to timely and appropriate care, without having to repeat tests or procedures,
  • monitoring the progress and impact of your various treatments, including adjusting medications and treatments as required.

If you feel, you don’t require continuity of care, you can request to remove your name from your family physician’s care and offer your spot to another individual who have greater health needs. Currently Ontario has over 1 million patients without a family physician.

At Thryve Medica, we are committed to provide primary care to our patients. However, in certain circumstances, we need to take the difficult decision to to terminate a patient from our clinic roster. These circumstances can include:

  • where a patient frequently misses appointments without appropriate cause or notice;
  • continuously seeks outside medical services and has not seen by a Thryve Medica physician in over 24-months;
  • as a result of behaviour which significantly disrupts the practice;
  • patient verbally requesting to remove them from the clinic roster, and
  • other forms of inappropriate behaviour, including abusive or threatening language.
